Alongside his extensive work as an orchestrator and conductor, Anthony is an accomplished composer for film in his own right. His writing draws on a deep understanding of the orchestra and a sensitivity to visual storytelling, shaped by years of close collaboration with some of the world’s leading film composers.
In 2019, Anthony composed the original score for The Long Walk, directed by Mattie Do. Set in a distant future Laos, the film follows a hermit who discovers that a roadside ghost can transport him back in time to the moment of his mother’s death. Anthony’s score underscores the film’s haunting blend of folk horror and science fiction with a tense, atmospheric sound world. The film was an official selection at the Venice International Film Festival and the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
Also in 2019, Anthony contributed music to the acclaimed documentary Leap of Faith: William Friedkin on The Exorcist, directed by Alexandre O. Philippe. The film is a cinematic essay exploring William Friedkin’s creative process and the mysteries of faith that shaped The Exorcist. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival, screened at Sundance, and won the Audience Award at Hot Docs.
New composing projects are in development — more details coming soon.
